Kraków, Poland - Wieliczka Salt Mines

One of the oldest salt mines in the world, being the oldest in Poland as well.
Went down 130meters, but the mines go deeper.. around 300 meters.
The tunnel available for tourists, were around 3km. Less than 1% of the total extension of the mine, which is around 300km long.

"The historic Salt Mine in Wieliczka is the only mining site in the world functioning continuously since the Middle Ages. Lying on nine levels, its original excavations (longitudinals, traverses, chambers, lakes, as well as minor and major shafts) stretch for the total of about 300 kilometres: reaching the depth of 327 metres they illustrate all the stages of mining technology development over time."

The quotation comes from the justification for entering the Wieliczka Salt Mine on UNESCO's First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage, 8th September, 1978 together with 11 other sites from around the world.

Unfortunately the photos of the Church doesn't do it justice and some other places because most places were very dark.

All sculptures are made of salt and the chandeliers as well.
Tasting the walls was a unique experience and a salty one :) (Hey, the guide told us do to it!)
The guide was very old according to her around 400 and something, she just looks so young because of the salt. She also told us we would get younger but when I left I still felt my legs hurting.
